Convert JPG to PNG Online Free

Some websites, printing services, and design tools ask for PNG files, and many people convert JPGs before editing them. Because PNG is lossless, a PNG copy will not lose any more quality no matter how many times it is opened and saved.

Converting a JPG to PNG keeps the picture exactly as it is. It will not make the background transparent by itself, and it cannot remove existing JPG artifacts, but it gives you a clean starting point for adding transparency or text in an editor.

Expect the PNG to be larger than the JPG, especially for photos.

How to Use

How to Convert JPG to PNG

Convert images in five simple steps. No software to install and no account to create.

  1. 1

    Step 1: Upload Your Images

Drag and drop, tap Browse Files, or take a photo on your phone. Add up to 50 images of any supported format, up to 20 MB each.

  2. 2

Step 2: Choose the Output Format

Pick JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, or PDF in the Convert to menu. Only the options that matter for that format are shown.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Adjust the Options

Set the quality, a background colour for transparent areas, icon sizes, or PDF page size, and decide whether to remove photo metadata.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Convert

Press Convert. Each image is converted on your device, one after another, and you see the old and new file size for each one.

  5. 5

    Step 5: Download

Download files one by one, or all at once as a ZIP. The original file names are kept with the new extension.

One private tool for every everyday image format, from iPhone photos to website images, icons, and PDFs.

  • 10 Formats

Open JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and ICO, and save as JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, or PDF.

  • iPhone HEIC Photos

Combine images into one PDF or make one PDF per image, with A4, Letter, or fit-to-image pages and margins.

  • Transparency Kept

PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, and ICO keep see-through areas. JPG and BMP get the background colour you choose.

  • Private by Design

Images are converted in your browser and never uploaded. Photo metadata such as GPS location can be removed.

  • Quality Control

Choose the quality for JPG, WebP, and AVIF, and see how much smaller or larger each file becomes.

  • Free, No Watermark

No sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how often you convert.

One Converter for Every Image Format

Phones, cameras, websites, and design apps all use different image formats. Instead of a separate tool for every pair, ToolCube converts any supported format to any other in one place: open an iPhone HEIC and save a JPG, turn a logo PNG into an ICO favicon, or shrink a large PNG into a WebP for your website.

Fast and Safe on Your Own Device

The conversion runs in a background process inside your browser, so the page stays responsive even with large photos and long batches. Decoders for formats such as HEIC, AVIF, and TIFF load only when you need them, and nothing is ever sent to a server.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about converting JPG to PNG.

Does converting JPG to PNG make the background transparent?

No. A JPG has no transparency information, so the PNG keeps the same solid background. To cut out the background, use an editor or the ToolCube Image Cropper to crop the picture into a shape with a transparent PNG background.

Will my image look better as a PNG?

It will look exactly the same. PNG stops further quality loss, but it cannot restore detail that JPG compression already removed.

Why do sites ask for PNG instead of JPG?

PNG is lossless and supports transparency, so it is preferred for logos, icons, and artwork where sharp edges and exact colours matter.
