Convert WebP to GIF Online Free

Some chat tools, older forums, email newsletters, and legacy programs accept GIF but not WebP. Converting a WebP image to GIF makes it usable there, and GIF is supported by every image viewer.

The GIF format is limited to 256 colours, so the converter picks the best palette for each image. It works very well for stickers, icons, and simple graphics; for detailed photos, JPG or PNG will look better.

Transparent parts of the WebP stay transparent in the GIF. Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame.

  • No sign-up or watermark
  • Processed in your browser
  • Batch convert to ZIP

Any format works here, not only WebP. See all formats in the Image Converter.

How to Convert WebP to GIF

Convert images in five simple steps. No software to install and no account to create.

  1. 1

    Step 1: Upload Your Images

Drag and drop, tap Browse Files, or take a photo on your phone. Add up to 50 images of any supported format, up to 20 MB each.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Adjust the Options

Set the quality, a background colour for transparent areas, icon sizes, or PDF page size, and decide whether to remove photo metadata.

  4. 4

Press Convert. Each image is converted on your device, one after another, and you see the old and new file size for each one.

  5. 5

    Step 5: Download

Download files one by one, or all at once as a ZIP. The original file names are kept with the new extension.

Why Choose Our Free Image Converter?

One private tool for every everyday image format, from iPhone photos to website images, icons, and PDFs.

  • 10 Formats

Open JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and ICO, and save as JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, or PDF.

  • iPhone HEIC Photos

Turn HEIC photos from an iPhone or iPad into JPG or PNG that open everywhere, the right way up.

Combine images into one PDF or make one PDF per image, with A4, Letter, or fit-to-image pages and margins.

  • Transparency Kept

PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, and ICO keep see-through areas. JPG and BMP get the background colour you choose.

  • Private by Design

Images are converted in your browser and never uploaded. Photo metadata such as GPS location can be removed.

  • Quality Control

Choose the quality for JPG, WebP, and AVIF, and see how much smaller or larger each file becomes.

  • Free, No Watermark

No sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how often you convert.

One Converter for Every Image Format

Phones, cameras, websites, and design apps all use different image formats. Instead of a separate tool for every pair, ToolCube converts any supported format to any other in one place: open an iPhone HEIC and save a JPG, turn a logo PNG into an ICO favicon, or shrink a large PNG into a WebP for your website.

Fast and Safe on Your Own Device

The conversion runs in a background process inside your browser, so the page stays responsive even with large photos and long batches. Decoders for formats such as HEIC, AVIF, and TIFF load only when you need them, and nothing is ever sent to a server.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about converting WebP to GIF.

Can I convert an animated WebP into an animated GIF?

Not with this tool. It creates still GIF images, so only the first frame of an animated WebP is used.

Why do colours look different in the GIF?

A GIF can contain only 256 colours, so smooth gradients in photos can show bands. Graphics with few colours convert almost perfectly.

Is the transparency of the WebP kept?

Yes. Fully transparent areas stay transparent. GIF has no partial transparency, so soft edges become either fully see-through or solid.
