Crop Images into Any Shape with a Transparent Background
Every crop is saved as a PNG with a transparent background, so the area outside the shape is see-through. That makes it easy to place a circle profile picture, a heart-shaped photo, or a star badge on any website, document, or design.
Precise Masks with the Pen Tool
For exact cut-outs, the Pen tool works like the one in professional design apps: click for straight corners, drag for smooth curves, and edit points and handles afterwards. Zoom up to 400% to place points accurately, then export at full resolution.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about cropping images into shapes with ToolCube.
Is the Image Cropper free to use?
Yes. The ToolCube Image Cropper is completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark on your images.
How do I crop an image into a circle?
Upload your image, choose Circle from the Basic shapes, then drag the circle over the face or subject and drag a corner handle to make it bigger or smaller. Click Download PNG to save a round image with a transparent background.
Which shapes can I crop an image into?
You can choose circles, squares, rounded squares, ellipses, triangles, hexagons, polygons, stars, hearts, shields, ribbons, tickets, badges, leaves, clouds, flowers, speech bubbles, and aspect ratios such as 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, and 9:16. You can also draw your own shape, use the Pen or Polygon tool, type a word, or upload an SVG shape.
Will the cropped image have a transparent background?
Yes. Cropped images are saved as PNG files, and everything outside the shape is transparent. The preview shows transparent areas with a checkerboard pattern.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Cropping happens entirely in your web browser using your device's own processing power. Your images are never sent to our servers or to any third-party service.
How does the Pen tool work?
Choose Pen under Custom shapes, then click on the photo to add a corner point or click and drag to add a smooth curve point. Click the first point to close the shape. Press Edit points above the preview to drag points and handles, click a line to add a point, double-click a point to switch between corner and curve, and press Delete to remove a point. Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes each step.
Can I crop several images at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 images. The same shape, border, shadow, and output size are used for all of them, and you can select each image to move, resize, or rotate the shape on it. Then click Download All as ZIP.
What output sizes are available?
You can keep the original resolution, or choose WhatsApp DP (500 × 500), Instagram post (1080 × 1080), Instagram story (1080 × 1920), YouTube thumbnail (1280 × 720), Facebook profile (720 × 720), passport photo (600 × 600), or a custom width and height up to 4096 pixels.
Why was my image saved smaller than the original?
To keep browsers stable, especially on phones, exported images are limited to 4096 pixels on the longest side. If your crop is larger than that, it is scaled down to fit, and the tool tells you before you download.
Does the cropper work on mobile phones?
Yes. It works in modern browsers on Android and iPhone. Drag the shape with one finger, pinch with two fingers to resize it, and twist two fingers to rotate it. You can also take a photo with your camera directly from the upload area.
